In a minor bureaucratic reshuffle, the Odisha government on Friday (09.05.2025) appointed senior IAS officer Sanjay Kumar Singh (IAS:1997:OR) as the new Principal Secretary, Works Department. He replaces Vir Vikram Yadav (IAS:1996:OR), who has been relieved of his duties to take up his new assignment with the central government.
According to a notification issued by the General Administration & Public Grievance (GA&PG) Department, Singh—currently serving as Principal Secretary of the Rural Development Department—will now head the Works Department. In addition, he will continue to hold his current additional charges as Principal Secretary of the Information & Public Relations Department and the Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare Department.
Meanwhile, IAS officer Yamini Sarangi (IAS:2006:OR), who is presently the Commissioner of Commercial Taxes & GST and Special Secretary of the Finance Department, has been given the additional charge of Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Rural Development Department.
The outgoing Principal Secretary of the Works Department, Vir Vikram Yadav, has been formally relieved with immediate effect. He is set to join his new posting as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Government of India, New Delhi.
