A mid-life crisis of job is awaiting innumerable officers and employees of the Odisha government. They are facing the danger of losing their cosy jobs as the government has issued an order to remove inefficient employees or those with doubtful integrity from service. It is being
done in the name of increasing productivity.
State’s Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja has sent a letter to all department secretaries asking them to adhere to a 2019 circular on Premature Retirement of government servants.
The circular had sought to remove officers and employees of doubtful integrity and patent inefficiency from public service.
Ahuja has said in the letter that the circular is not being followed in totality by many departments with a result that inefficient officers and employees with doubtful integrity are continuing in government jobs. Ahuja has also advised the secretaries to ensure holding of review meetings regularly.
