The Odisha government on Wednesday (18.09.2024) extended the service period of Director General of Police (DGP) YB Khurania (IPS:1990:OR) till August 16, 2026. The extension ensures that Khurania will complete the minimum tenure of two years as the DGP of state. Khurania was appointed as the DGP of the state on August 16 this year.
“The government has been pleased to extend the service period of Shri YB Khurania, IPS, DG & IG of police (HoPF) Odisha till 16.08.2026 to make his tenure minimum 2 years as DG & IG of police (HoPF) as per the OM dated 18.05. 1977 issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs,” read the notification issued by the Home Department.
Prior to his appointment as the DGP in Odisha, Khurania was on Central deputation and was serving as the Special Director General (DG) of the Border Security Force (BSF), Western command. His appointment as Odisha’s DGP came shortly after his repatriation to Odisha cadre.
