Last year, with much funfair and hype, the Modi Govt. had started the lateral entry scheme for the Joint Secretary level recruitment of central government posts. In an unprecedented move, 9 Joint Secretary level posts were filled through this scheme. The the selection process was conducted by the UPSC, the recruits, experts from their respective fields with minimum 15 years of experience and below 40 years of age, were exempted from the mandatory civil services examination.
Now, as they have completed one year of service in their new departmental roles as Joint Secretaries, their work is to be evaluated, says a general order from DoPT.
Based on this work evaluation, the Modi Government will further implement the Lateral Entry Scheme, this time at a larger scale and for more number of posts, disclose our Sources. Our Sources further inform us that the Govt. is keen on filling up the vacant and soon to be vacant more than 300 central government posts at director and joint secretary levels through Lateral Entry Scheme.
