According to sources, the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has shortlisted 11 candidates for the interview for the post of Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) Limited. The interview is scheduled to be held on June 11, 2025, as the selection process reaches its final stage.
The PESB had advertised the post on March 3, 2025, inviting applications from eligible candidates by April 1. Over two dozen aspirants, including several serving CMDs from other Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), applied for the post. Out of this pool, 11 candidates have been called for the final round.
The current CMD of NHPC, Raj Kumar Chaudhary, is scheduled to retire on June 30, 2025. He was appointed to the post on August 6, 2024.
