The revision of Empanelment Policy of IAS officers by the Central Government, has led to fear and apprehension in young officers across various states of the country.

The 2007 Batch IAS officers are worried as they will have to serve for at least two years in the Union Government. They have three years left with them as they will be completing 16 years of service in 2023.

To begin with these officers will have to move out immediately and other batch of IAS officers will have to plan accordingly, point out a senior IAS officer.

Faced with the paucity of IAS officers, some State Governments are not too keen to relieve their officers to join at the Centre.

However, in the changed circumstances, these officers will have to serve in the Union Government as their empanelment in Joint Secretary Level is crucial for their future.
