Kolkata: A National Vendor Meet under the PM-Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSGY) was jointly organised by West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL) and REC Limited on August 13, 2026, at Hotel Taj Bengal, New Alipore, Kolkata, to strengthen implementation of the scheme and accelerate rooftop solar installations across West Bengal.
The meeting was chaired by Santanu Basu, IAS, Principal Secretary, Power Department, Government of West Bengal. Officials from REC Limited, CESC, the Government of West Bengal, state and national vendors, and training partners participated in the meeting.
Addressing the gathering, Basu emphasised the need for active participation and coordinated efforts by state and national vendors to further strengthen the implementation of the scheme in West Bengal. He reaffirmed the collective commitment of the state government, REC Limited, WBSEDCL, vendors, DISCOMs, financial institutions and other stakeholders to accelerate rooftop solar adoption.
S. Jayanthi, Executive Director, REC Limited, who heads the PMSGY team, presented REC’s perspective as the nodal agency for implementation of the scheme. She urged national vendors to deploy adequate manpower and called upon brand owners to expand their channel partner networks across West Bengal to facilitate faster installation of rooftop solar systems.
Jayanthi also assured stakeholders that REC, as the nodal agency, would extend necessary support to expedite rooftop solar installations and address issues faced by vendors, consumers and DISCOMs.
During the meeting, Devinder, DGM, REC, and Raman Garg, DGM, REC, made presentations focusing on increasing vendor participation, ensuring the quality of rooftop solar plants, vendor rating, and training and capacity-building provisions for vendors under the scheme.
The National Vendor Meet provided a platform for stakeholders to discuss implementation-related issues, strengthen coordination and identify measures to accelerate rooftop solar installations under PM-Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana in West Bengal.
