Senior IPS officer Kailash Makwana (IPS:1988:MP) has been appointed as the new Director General of Police (DGP) of Madhya Pradesh. He will succeed current DGP Sudhir Saxena (IPS:1986:MP), who is set to retire on November 30.

The Home Department issued the order late Saturday night, shortly after Chief Minister Mohan Yadav left for an overseas visit.

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) held a meeting in Delhi on November 21 to finalize the candidates for the DGP position. After detailed discussions, three names were forwarded to the state government: Arvind Kumar (IPS:1988:MP) – DG, Home Guards, Kailash Makwana (IPS:1988:MP) – Chairman, Police Housing Corporation and Ajay Sharma (IPS:1989:MP) – DG, Economic Offences Wing (EOW).

As speculated, the state government selected Makwana for the top post.
