MP govt transfers 14 IPS officers; Sanjay Kumar is new Bhopal Police Commissioner

The Madhya Pradesh government on Thursday (January 29, 2026) issued transfer and posting orders for 14 IPS officers, effecting key changes at senior and field levels of the police administration.

Pankaj Kumar Srivastava has been appointed Special Director General of Police (Special DGP) and Special DGP, Vigilance, while K.P. Venkateshwar Rao has been posted as Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Anti-Naxal Operations, Police Headquarters, Bhopal.

The most significant change is the appointment of Sanjay Kumar as Police Commissioner, Bhopal, replacing Harinarayan Chari Mishra, who has been transferred and posted as Inspector General of Police (SCRB) at the Police Headquarters, Bhopal.

The names of the officers and their postings are as follows;

1. Pankaj Kumar Srivastava (IPS:1992:MP), Special DGP, Anti Naxal Operation, STF & CID, has been transferred and posted as Special DGP, CID, with additional charge of Special DGP, Vigilance.
2. Anant Kumar Singh (IPS:1994:MP), after return from central deputation, has been posted as Special DGP / Managing Director, MP Police Housing Corporation.
3. KP Venkateshwar Rao (IPS:1995:MP), ADGP, Narcotics, has been transferred and posted as ADGP, Technical Services, with additional charge of ADGP, Anti Naxal Operations, PHQ, Bhopal.
4. Umesh Joga (IPS:1997:MP), ADGP, Ujjain Zone, Ujjain, has been transferred as ADGP/ Transport Commissioner, Gwalior.
5. D Srinivas Verma (IPS:1997:MP), ADGP, PHQ, Bhopal, has been transferred and posted as ADGP, Narcotics, with additional charge of ADGP, STF.
6. Vivek Sharma (IPS:1998:MP), ADGP/ Transport Commissioner, Gwalior, has been transferred and posted as ADGP, PTRI, PHQ, Bhopal.
7. Anshuman Yadav (IPS:1998:MP), ADGP, PHQ, Bhopal, has been transferred and posted as Director, Sports and Youth Welfare.
8. Rakesh Gupta (IPS:1999:MP), Director, Sports and Youth Affairs, has been transferred and posted as ADGP, Ujjain Zone, Ujjain.
9. Abhay Singh (IPS:2002:MP), IGP, Bhopal (Rural) Zone, has been transferred as IGP (Planning), PHQ, Bhopal.
10. Harinarayan Chari Mishra (IPS:2003:MP), Police Commissioner, Bhopal, has been transferred as IGP (SCRB), PHQ, Bhopal.
11. Sanjay Kumar (IPS:2004:MP), IGP, Balaghat Zone, Balaghat, has been transferred as Police Commissioner, Bhopal.
12. Sanjay Tiwari (IAS:2004:MP), IGP (Planning), PHQ, Bhopal, has been transferred and posted as IGP, Bhopal (Rural) Zone.
13. Chaitra N (IPS:2006:MP), IGP (SCRB), PHQ, Bhopal, has been transferred as IGP, Shahdol Zone, Shahdol.
14. Lalit Shakyawar (IPS:2008:MP), IGP, Grievances and Human Rights, PHQ, Bhopal, has been transferred and posted as IGP, Balaghat Zone, Balaghat.
