Modi govt makes ‘good postings’ of income tax officers ‘performance based’

The Narendra Modi govt has conveyd to its income tax officers that they would get good postings only if they complete their targets of tax collections. The government wants to mobilise 2 lakh crore from its ‘Vivaad Se Vishwas’ scheme. As per a 21 February office memo issued by a senior Central Board of Direct Taxes functionary, the field officers’ performance will play a major part in finalisation of their annual performance appraisal reports”.
