Modi govt clears appointment to Foreign/Captive posts ; Topno gets World Bank assignment, Navnit is Ambassador to WTO

The Narendra Modi government cleared the appointments to Foreign/Captive Posts under the Department of Economic Affairs and Department of Commerce for a period of three years.

The names of the officers and their postings are as follows :

  1. Dr Ravi Kota (IAS:1993:AM) has been appointed as Minister (Economic) Embassy of India, Washington DC (USA) under the Department of Economic Affairs. Presently, he is working as Joint Secretary in Finance Commission.
  2. Rajeev Topno (IAS:1996:GJ) has been appointed as Senior Adviser (JS level) to the Executive Director, World Bank, Washington DC (USA) under the Department of Economic Affairs. Topno is Private Secretary to the Prime Minister.
  3. Lekhan Thakkar (CSS:1995) has been appointed as Counsellor (Economic) (Director level), Embassy of India, Beijing under the Department of Economic Affairs.
  4. H Atheli (ICAS:2000) has been appointed as Adviser to Executive Director, Asian Development Bank, Manila, Phillipines under the Department of Economic Affairs.
  5. Brajendra Navnit (IAS:1999:TN) has been appointed as Ambassador and Permanent Resident of India (PRI) (JS level) to the World Trade Organisation under the Department of Commerce. Navnit recently completed his tenure as Joint Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office.
  6. Anwar Hussain Shaik (IRTS:2000) has been appointed as Counsellor (Directer level), Permanent Mission of India to the World Trade Organisation, Geneva, Switzerland under the Department of Commerce.
  7. N Ashok Kumar (IAS:2004:MN) has been appointed as Adviser (Industry and Engineering) (Director level), Embassy of India, Brussels (Belgium) under the Department of Commerce. Presently he is Director in the Department of Commerce.
