The Modi government announced the appointment of Kamlesh Chandra Varshney (IRS-IT:1990) and Amarjeet Singh as whole-time members to the board of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the markets regulator. Kamlesh Chandra Varshney serves as a Joint Secretary at the Department of Revenue, while Amarjeet Singh holds the position of Executive Director at SEBI.

These appointments are slated for a duration of three years from the commencement of their duties or until further directives, whichever transpires earlier.

Currently, the SEBI board, helmed by Madhabi Puri Buch, comprises two whole-time members and four part-time members.
