Mizoram: Retired IPS officer John Neihlaia appointed Chief Information Commissioner

The Mizoram government on Thursday (21.09.2023) announced the appointment of retired Indian Police Service (IPS) officer John Neihlaia as the State Chief Information Commissioner for the Mizoram State Information Commission.

The Mizoram government on Thursday (21.09.2023) announced the appointment of retired Indian Police Service (IPS) officer John Neihlaia as the State Chief Information Commissioner for the Mizoram State Information Commission. John Neihlaia commenced his career in the Mizoram Police as Deputy SP in 1986 and retired from service in July of this year. Throughout his career, he held various significant positions in Mizoram, Delhi, and Arunachal Pradesh. In recognition of his exemplary service, John Neihlaia was honored with the Police Medal for Meritorious Service in 2019 and the DGP’s Commendation Disc in the same year.

In addition to this appointment, the Mizoram Government also named retired Indian Information Service (IIS) officer Mangjangam Touthang as the State Information Commissioner within the Mizoram State Information Commission, as per an official order. Mr. Touthang’s career spanned across various media units under the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, and he served in diverse capacities in Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Delhi. He contributed to organizations such as the erstwhile DAVP, PIB, DFP, AIR, and Doordarshan. Mr. Touthang retired from his role as Director (News) at DDK, Aizawl, in February of this year.
