In a significant development, the Ministry of Home Affairs executed crucial transfers on Monday, impacting three senior IAS officers. While two have been appointed to prominent positions in Union territories, the third officer transferred to Delhi but his posting is yet to be announced. However, anticipation is high that the officer is poised to assume a significant responsibility.

Rajeev Verma (IAS:1992:AGMUT), who had been serving as the Chief Secretary of Puducherry since May 2022, was appointed as the Advisor to the Administrator in Chandigarh. This appointment fills a long-standing vacancy that arose after the retirement of Dharampal (IAS:1988:AGMUT) in October of the previous year.

Sharat Chauhan (IAS:1994:AGMUT) will take over as the Chief Secretary of Puducherry, succeeding Rajeev Verma. Chauhan, currently serving as the Principal Secretary of Finance, Planning, and Investment in Arunachal Pradesh, brings his expertise to the new role.

Navin Kumar Choudhary (IAS:1994:AGMUT), previously serving as the Principal Secretary of the General Administration Department in the Mizoram Government, has been relocated to Delhi. Sources suggest that Choudhary is likely to assume a “senior position” in either the Delhi government, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, or the New Delhi Municipal Council.
