In 2023-24, a total of 45 international capacity-building programs are scheduled to train 1,750 international civil servants. Union Minister for Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions Dr Jitendra Singh said in the Lok Sabha that the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has approved Rs 17,60,26,500 for capacity building, benefiting 1,425 civil servants from various countries, including Bangladesh, Cambodia, Mauritius, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Gambia, and others. The training also includes multi-country courses for African Countries, Forum for India-Pacific Islands Cooperation (FIPIC)/Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA), and Latin American Countries (LAC) regions. Notably, an e-Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) course on “special program on emerging governance practices” is also part of the capacity-building initiatives. The National Centre for Good Governance (NCGG) is at the forefront of providing training to civil servants from different countries.
Established in 2014 as an apex-level institution under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions, NCGG has a crucial mandate. It operates in areas of public policy, governance, reforms, and capacity building, not only for civil servants within India but also for those from other developing nations. Its commitment to training and sharing best practices has made it a valuable resource in strengthening the capabilities of civil servants worldwide.
