The central deputation tenure of Mahendra Kumar (IRSEE:1999) as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Labour & Employment has been extended for one year. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Saturday (10.05.2025), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Labour & Employment to extend Mr. Kumar ’s tenure for a further period of one year beyond May 22, 2025, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Mr. Kumar was initially appointed as Director in the Ministry of Labour & Employment in May 2019 for a five-year term. Before the completion of that tenure, he was granted a one-year extension in April 2024. Prior to this extension, he was empanelled on March 1, 2024, for holding Joint Secretary or equivalent posts in the Government of India. Following his empanelment, he was elevated and appointed as Joint Secretary in the same department. His tenure has now been extended again in this upgraded role.
