A senior IPS officer in Maharashtra has been sent on compulsory leave for allowing two controversial business tycoons to travel to Mahabaleshwar during the lockdown.

On Thursday, Mahabaleshwar police detained Kapil and Dheeraj Wadhawan, promoters of the Dewan Housing Finance Corporation (DHFL) group and 21 others, who were visiting Wadhawan’s farm house.

They were carrying a letter signed by Amitabh Gupta (IPS:1992:MH), the Principal Secretary (Special) in the Home Department, saying that they are his family friends, and were travelling due to some family emergency.

The Wadhawan brothers are accused in the Iqbal Mirchi case and the Yes Bank case registered by the ED and the CBI.

Police has detained them and put them in quarantine.

The CBI will take action when the quarantine is over. CBI had issued a lookout notice against Kapil and Dheeraj Wadhwan in Yes Bank and DHFL fraud case.
