Maharashtra: Manoj Saunik is likely to be new Chief Secretary

Senior IAS officer Manoj Saunik (IAS:1987:MH) is likely to be appointed Chief Secretary of the state replacing Manukumar Srivastava (IAS:1986:MH) who is set to retire on April 30. Our sources confirmed that both Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis have given their consent. It is now a matter of time before that order is issued in this regard if the state government does not throw last-minute surprises.

If Manoj Saunik’s appointment is cleared he will supersede his wife, Sujata Saunik (IAS:1987:MH). After Sujata Saunik, Ashwani Kumar (IAS:1987) is the senior-most IAS officer followed by Manoj.

As we reported, Manoj Saunik and Sujata Saunik were the frontrunners for the top bureaucratic post in the state. Now, it seems that he is leading the race. Manoj heads the Department of Finance and Public Works Department as Additional Secretary while Sujata works as Additional Chief Secretary, Administrative Reforms in the General Administration Department.
