Senior IPS officer Brijesh Singh (IPS:1996:MH) on Monday (20.02.2023) was appointed as the Principal Secretary to the Maharashtra Chief Minister’s Office. It is the first time in recent years that an IPS officer has been appointed as the CMO. Prior to this assignment, Singh was serving as Additional Director General of Police, Home Guards.
Singh is believed to be close to Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and was one of the most powerful police officers during Fadnavis’ time as Chief Minister.He served as the Director General of Information and Public Relations in addition to being in charge of the Cyber Crime branch. However, he was later sidelined by the tripartite Maha Vikas Aghadi government, led by the then Chief Minister Uddav Thackeray.
