M. Ajit Kumar (IRS-C&CE:1984) has been appointed as Chairman of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), a post which fell vacant after the voluntary retirement (VRS) of Pranab Kumar Das was accepted and came into effect on 31.12.2019. Presently, Dr John Joseph is holding the additional charge of CBIC Chairman whereas M Ajit Kumar is working as Member, CBIC.
