The central government on Tuesday (11.06.2024) announced the appointment of Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi as the next Chief of Army Staff. He is currently serving as the Vice Chief of Army Staff and will assume his new role on June 30 succeeding General Manoj Pande. Army Chief Gen Manoj Pande is set to retire on June 30 after his tenure was extended by one month.
