The central government has appointed Koppu Sadashiv Murthy as the new Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (BHEL). He succeed Nalins Shinghal, who has held the position since July 8, 2019.
Murthy’s official appointment will take effect from the date he assumes office, expected to be on or after November 1. The board approved his appointment during its meeting on October 30.
His nomination was recommended by the Public Enterprises Selection Board after interviewing two candidates for the CMD position on June 30, 2023. Prior to this appointment, Murthy served as the Executive Director at BHEL.
