Kerala cadre Telugu IAS officer Mylavarapu Krishna Teja (IAS:2015:KL), currently serving as District Collector of the Thrissur district, is set to be appointed as the Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan.

CM Chandrababu Naidu has approved this decision and has also written a letter to the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) requesting the deputation of the officer to Andhra Pradesh, citing it as a special case.

Officer Teja had recently visited Andhra Pradesh and met CM Naidu and Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan

If this appointment goes through, it would mark a significant departure from the usual protocol, where a minister’s OSD typically holds the rank of RDO. In this instance, the Deputy Chief Minister is expected to select an IAS officer for the OSD role.

Teja, a native of Chilakaluripet in Palnadu distict, played a crucial role as sub-collector of Alleppey during the 2018 Kerala floods. He orchestrated ‘Operation Kuttanadu,’ which successfully evacuated about 2.5 lakh people in 48 hours. Additionally, he mobilized funds for the rehabilitation of flood victims through the ‘I am for Alleppey’ campaign.
