The Karnataka government has deployed a number of IAS officers to meet the challenge of the coronavirus. These officers will work on implementing plans, and leave the health department and its experts to focus their energies on core medical work and public health measures.

Nine officers have been appointed as Nodal officers, apart from officials drawn from departments like labour and women and child development.

The IAS officers are now leading the battle against the coronavirus, after a state-level task force comprising of Health Minister and the Medical Education Minister proved to be a non-starter.

These IAS officers hold daily meetings through video conferencing with the DMs and health officers of all 27 districts, to ensure that all central policies are implemented.

Timely measures taken by the state, along with social distancing norms have succeeded in checking the growth of the virus.
