The Karnataka government on Saturday gave IPS officer Alok Mohan (IPS:1987:KN) additional charge of Director General & Inspector General of Police (DG&IGP) of the state. The new government relieved incumbent DG&IGP Praveen Sood (IPS:1986:KN) on Saturday for central deputation to take up his new assignment as Director of CBI.

Alok Mohan is serving as DG-cum-Commandant General, Home Guards, Ex-officio Director of Civil Defence, Director of Fire Services, and Head of Special Disaster Response Force. He will also hold the additional charge of Chairperson, Karnataka State Police Housing Corporation.
