The Jammu and Kashmir government on October 18 complied with the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) order and released senior IPS officer Rakash Balwal (IPS: 2012: MN) from his duties, facilitating his premature repatriation to his parent cadre of Manipur. This move allowed him to rejoin his parent cadre, while he had been serving as the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in Srinagar. In response to this development, the Union Territory government has issued transfer and posting orders for two IPS officers.

Ashish Kumar Mishra (IPS: 2013: AGMUT), who held the position of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in Anantnag, has been reassigned as the new SSP in Srinagar. Meanwhile, GV Sundeep Chakravarthy (IPS: 2014: AGMUT), who was serving as the Assistant Inspector General (CIV) at the Police Headquarters, has been transferred and appointed as the SSP in Anantnag, replacing Ashish Kumar Mishra.
