The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has extended the suspension of IPS officer Basant Rath (IPS:2000:J&K) for an additional six months until January 27, 2024. He was initially suspended on July 8, 2020, as disciplinary proceedings were contemplated against him, according to Rule 3 of the All India Services (Discipline & Appeal) Rules, 1969.
The Central Review Committee reviewed the suspension of Basant Kumar Rath and recommended the extension of his suspension for a further 180 days beyond July 31, 2023. The President, based on these recommendations, exercised the powers under Rule 3 of the All India Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1969, to extend the suspension until January 27, 2024.
