Once again, our sources were proven accurate. As we informed readers earlier, Amitava Mukherjee was likely to be appointed as the full-time Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of NMDC Limited. The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has now officially confirmed this by publishing its recommendation of Mukherjee for the post on its website.
Now, he will be appointed to the post of CMD after receiving vigilance clearances and approval from the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet.
The following 9 applicants were interviewed in the selection meeting:
- Amitava Mukherjee, Director (Finance), NMDC Limited with additional charge of CMD, NDMC Limited
- Vinay Kumar, Director (Technical), NMDC with additional charge of Director (Production) and Director (Personnel)
- Rakesh Tumane, Director (Finance), MOIL Limited
- Vishwanath Suresh, Director (Commercial), NMDC Limited
- Rajesh Kumar Singh, CMD, Bridge and Roof Company
- Sanjay Banga, CMD, Cement Corporation of India
- R Venu Gopal, Senior GM, BSNL
- Prasanna Kumar Rath, ED, Sail Refractory Unit, SAIL
- Ajay Nandan (IRSME), Principal Chief Mechanical Engineer, Indian Railway
Notably, the CMD position at NMDC has been filled on an interim basis since Sumit Deb’s retirement on 31.01.2023, with Mukherjee, Director (Finance), holding additional CMD responsibilities as the senior-most board member.
