IRS officer Vinay Kaushal (IRS-IT:2011) has been appointed as Private Secretary to Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister for Railways, Information & Broadcasting and Electronics and Information Technology. His appointment specifically pertains to the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Friday (21.06.2024), the competent authority has approved the proposal to appoint Vinay Kaushal to the post of Private Secretary with effect from the date of assumption of the charge of the post.
His tenure will last until January 27, 2027, for the remaining five years of his central deputation as Private Secretary, or on a co-terminus basis with the Minister, or until he ceases to function as Private Secretary to the Minister, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Vinay Kaushal previously served as Private Secretary to the Minister for Information & Broadcasting, Anurag Thakur. He was appointed to the post on January 19, 2022. In the third term of the Modi government, Anurag Thakur was dropped from the cabinet, and the Information & Broadcasting portfolio was assigned to Ashwini Vaishnaw.
