IPS Officer Alok Sharma appointed as DG, SPG

Senior IPS officer Alok Sharma (IPS:1991:UP) has been appointed as Director General of the Special Protection Group (SPG). According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Tuesday (20.02.2024), the appointments committee of the cabinet has approved the proposal of the office of Secretarty (Security), Cabinet Secretariat for granting the grade of DG levet to Alok Sharma by temporarily upgrading the post of Director SPG to the level of DG as a measure personal to the officer.
