Indian Railways’ freight loading for the first ten months of this financial year 2022-23 crossed last year’s loading and earnings for the same period. Cumulatively, from April-January 23, 1243.46 MT of freight was loaded, compared with 1159.08 MT loaded last year, an improvement of 7%. The railways earned Rs 135387 crore compared to Rs 117212 crore during the same period last year, an increase of 16%.
Originating freight loading was 134.07 MT in January’23, compared to 129.12 MT in January’22, which is an improvement of 4 %. Freight revenue of Rs. 14907 crores have been achieved against Rs 13172 crores in January’22, thereby an improvement of 13% over last year.
The railway has made sustained efforts with the mantra ‘Hungry For Cargo’ to improve the ease of doing business as well as improve service delivery at competitive prices.
