Senior Indian Information Service (IIS) officer Dhirendra K Ojha (IIS:1990) on Thursday appointed as the Principal Spokesperson of the central government. Ojha will also hold the charge of Principal Director General of the Press Information Bureau (PIB), succeeding Sheyphali B Sharan (IIS:1990), who has been appointed as the Director General of the Publications Division.
Sharan was given the charge of Principal Director General, PIB, on April 1 this year.
Ojha previously served as the Director General of the Central Bureau of Communications (CBC). PIB Director General Y K Baweja (IIS:1990) will succeed Ojha in the CBC.
Additionally, B Narayanan (IIS:1990) has been appointed as Director General of NMW, New Delhi, with additional charge of EMMC, New Delhi. Pragya Paliwal Gaur (IIS:1994) has been appointed as Director General (M&C), PIB, New Delhi, on the strength of PIB, Lucknow, to oversee the Research Unit, PIB, New Delhi. Pushpinder Kaur (IIS) has been appointed as Additional Director General (M&C), PIB, New Delhi, to oversee the work of the Election Commission of India, New Delhi, and Shruti Ojha (IIS:2013) has been appointed as Assistant Director (News), DDK, Lucknow, upon completing her training at IIMC, New Delhi.
