The Officer Trainees of the 2022 Batch of Indian Foreign Service (IFS) called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg on Tuesday (25.07.2023).
The Prime Minister engaged in a wide-ranging interaction with the Officer Trainees and asked them about their experience so far, after joining the government service. The Officer Trainees shared their learnings during their training including village visits, Bharat Darshan, and Armed Forces attachments. They also informed the Prime Minister about the transformational impact of many government welfare schemes like the Jal Jeevan Mission and PM Awas Yojna, which they witnessed first-hand.
The Prime Minister spoke about the government’s focus on attaining saturation of welfare schemes. He explained how it has resulted in reaching out to every needy person without any discrimination. He exhorted the Officer Trainees to study the implementation and success of the Aspirational District Programme. This understanding can help the countries of the Global South in their developmental trajectory.
The Prime Minister also addressed India’s G20 presidency and inquired about the Officer Trainees’ experiences attending G20 meetings. During the discussion on environmental issues, the Prime Minister provided insights into Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for the Environment) and emphasized that addressing climate change effectively requires a collective commitment to lifestyle changes by everyone.
