IAS officer Pawan Yadav (IAS:2014:MN) has been appointed as the Private Secretary to Amit Shah, Union Minister for Home Affairs & Cooperation. His appointment is specifically pertains to the Ministry of Home Affairs.

According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Wednesday (26.03.2025), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved appointment of Mr. Yadav to the post for a period upto April 2, 2027 (i.e. for the balance period of his four years central deputation tenure) or on a co-terminus basis with the Minister, or till he ceases to function as Private Secretary to the Minister or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

It’s worth noting that prior to this appointment, Pawan Yadav was serving as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs under the central staffing scheme. However, his tenure in this role was curtailed due to his new appointment as the Private Secretary to Union Home Minister, Amit Shah. He will assume charge of the post at Deputy Secretary level.
