IAS officer Rashmi Kamal (IAS:2006:WB) has been appointed as Director of Census Operations (DCO) and Director of Citizen Registration (DCR), West Bengal, under the Central Staffing Scheme. She will succeed Kaushick Saha (IAS:2010:WB), who was prematurely repatriated to his parent cadre, West Bengal, in September 2025, even though his tenure was originally scheduled to end on December 31, 2025.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Tuesday (December 30, 2025), the competent authority has approved her appointment at the Director level for a tenure of three years. The tenure will take effect from January 1, 2026, or from the date she assumes charge of the post, whichever is later, and will remain subject to further orders.
Rashmi Kamal is currently serving in her parent cadre of West Bengal as Secretary, Paschimanchal Unnayan Affairs Department.
