The bureaucracy is known as a lethargic system that excels in employing delaying tactics. But there are officers whose commitment and dedication to serve the common people often brings laurels for the entire officialdom. Dr. Lokesh M is one of them.

An IAS officer of the 2005 batch, he is currently posted as CEO of the NOIDA authority. He has been tirelessly trying to bring efficiency and accountability to the Noida Authority. For efficient working, he got around 65 CCTV cameras installed to monitor the offices through them, in order to be able to track staff and visitor experiences.

It was during a routine monitoring of CCTV footage on Monday that Dr. Lokesh saw an old man waiting at one of the service counters. The delay had worried him, and he told the on-duty staff to either sort out the man’s issue then and there or clearly tell him if the work could not be done.

But after observing that an elderly man was still waiting in front of the counters of the office even after 20 minutes despite his instruction, he got fed up with this attitude of his staff. Dr. Lokesh then headed to the residential plot department to personally sort out the problem. The angry CEO imposed punishment on 16 employees, including some women staff members, by asking them to stand up and continue working for next 20 minutes due to their delay in providing the service.

A video capturing the entire incident has gone viral on social media. This unique way of showing concern for the vulnerable section of the people, especially the elderly, by exhibiting the importance of quick public service is touching hearts of the people across the country.
