The Central government on Tuesday (August 12, 2025) appointed Mohammed Y Safirulla K (IAS:2010:KL) as Director in the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), Delhi, for a tenure of five years.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), the competent authority approved his appointment on deputation basis under the Central Staffing Scheme. The order further directed that Safirulla be relieved of his present duties in Kerala, where he is serving as Special Secretary–Staff Officer to the Chief Secretary, to immediately take up his new assignment in the national capital.
A 2010-batch IAS officer of the Kerala cadre, Safirulla has held several key positions in the state. In his new role at MeitY, he will contribute to policy formulation and implementation in the electronics and IT sector at the central level, a domain critical to India’s digital governance and technological advancement.
