Dr. M. Balaji (IAS:2005:TN) has been appointed to the position of Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of India, Brussels, under the Department of Commerce. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) issued an order on Friday (05.01.2024), announcing that the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved Mr. Balaji’s appointment to the post for three years from the date he assumes charge or until further orders, whichever is earlier. This appointment involves the curtailment of his tenure as Joint Secretary, Department of Commerce, under the Central Staffing Scheme. Dr. Balaji will succeed Debasish Prusty (IAS:2000:RJ) upon the completion of Mr. Prusty’s approved tenure on 31.04.2024.
