IAS officer Anunjay Kumar Singh will serve one more year in UP

Anunjaneya Kumar Singh (IAS:2005:SK) has been given a one-year extension by the Centre to continue in Uttar Pradesh. He was the officer who took on senior Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan. Anunjaneya Singh was serving as Commissioner of Moradabad when his tenure ended on February 16.

Anunjaneya Kumar Singh (IAS:2005:SK) has been given a one-year extension by the Centre to continue in Uttar Pradesh. He was the officer who took on senior Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan. Anunjaneya Singh was serving as Commissioner of Moradabad when his tenure ended on February 16.

Singh was sent on an inter-state deputation to Uttar Pradesh in 2015. His first appointment was as Special Secretary for Irrigation and Water Resources, and in July 2016 he was transferred to Bulandshahr as District Magistrate. In April 2017, he was appointed Additional Commissioner of Commercial Tax, followed by a term as District Magistrate for Fatehpur and then Rampur. The officer was responsible for mounting cases against Mohd Azam Khan and his family in Rampur. He took over the position of Commissioner of Moradabad in March 2021.
