In a key development, the central deputation tenure of IAS officer Govind Jaiswal (IAS:2007:AGMUT) as Joint Secretary in the Department of Higher Education has been extended by two years. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Wednesday (July 23, 2025), the Appointment Committee of the Cabinet has approved the proposal of Department of Higher Education to extend the deputation tenure of Mr Jaiswal for a period of two years beyond October 11, 2025 or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Mr. Jaiswal has been serving as Joint Secretary in the Department of Higher Education since July 2023. He began his central deputation on October 12, 2020, when he was appointed as Deputy Secretary in the Department of Health & Family Welfare for a four-year tenure. In July 2023, after being empanelled for Joint Secretary-level posts in the Government of India, he was posted as Joint Secretary in the Department of Higher Education, with his combined central deputation tenure set to end on October 11, 2025.
This latest extension allows Mr. Jaiswal to continue his role till October 2027.
