IAS officer Abhimanyu Kumar (IAS:2011:RJ) has been appointed as Private Secretary to Amit Shah, Minister for Home Affairs & Cooperation. His appointment specifically pertains to Ministry of Cooperation. Previously serving as Deputy Secretary in the Department of Commerce, his tenure in the Ministry was curtailed following his new appointment.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Monday (01.07.2024), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved the proposal to appoint Abhimanyu Kumar to the post of Private Secretary, effective from the date he assumes charge.
His tenure will last until January 16, 2026, for the balance period of his four-year tenure, or on a co-terminus basis, or until he ceases to function as Private Secretary to the Minister, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
