The bureaucratic circles in Madhya Pradesh are abuzz with excitement and fear after the High Court lambasted a senior IAS officer for dereliction and asked him to resign. The High Court condemned the attitude of senior IAS officer Sanjay Dubey (IAS:1993:MP) for not obeying its order passed more than six months back. The High Court remarked that such an officer should leave the service. Dubey is currently posted as an Additional Chief Secretary in the General Administration Department (GAD) and was earlier serving in the home department in the similar capacity.

The court had ordered the promotion of a police officer in March this year, but the officer is yet to be promoted. After being denied promotion despite the court order, police officer Vijay Punj moved the High Court by filing a contempt petition against Sanjay Dubey. While hearing the contempt petition, the HC asked Dubey if he could not implement its order during such a long time, he should resign from the service. Further, the court gave him one last opportunity to comply with the order.

The contempt petition is being heard by Justice Dwarka Dhish Bansal of the MP High Court. The court’s grave remark has sent shockwaves in the state bureaucracy. What invited the court’s wrath is the fact that the petitioner police officer is retiring from his service in this month.
