The Punjab and Haryana high court has stalled the state government’s selection process into the IAS from non-state Civil services (SCS) officers’ quota. This is being considered a big jolt to the Haryana Government in the power corridors.

The Punjab and Haryana high court’s division bench comprising Justice S.Muralidhar and Justice Avneesh Jhingan has also vacated stay on the selection of candidates for five posts of Indian Administrative Service (IAS) from amongst the non-state civil service (non-SCS) officers in Haryana.

The order comes against the state government’s decision to conduct a written examination for selection into IAS from non-state civil services quota. The order by the Central Administrative Tribunal, Chandigarh was challenged in the Punjab and Haryana high court on August 7.

With this the final result for the selection into IAS which was held by the state government can now be declared. The High Court has however, made it clear that selection of candidates would be subject to the final outcome of this litigation and has posted the matter for a final hearing on December 15.
