In a significant development, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) panel has finalized three senior IPS officers from the Haryana cadre, paving the way for the selection of the next Director General of Police (DGP) in the state. The incumbent DGP’s tenure is set to conclude on August 15, adding urgency to the appointment process.
The three IPS officers shortlisted by the UPSC comprises are;
- R C Mishra (IPS:1989:HY)

- Shatrujeet Kapur (IPS:1990:HY)
This crucial decision was reached during a recent meeting of the empanelment committee at New Delhi on Thursday (August 10), where Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal (IAS:1986:HY) and the current state DGP, PK Agrawal (IPS:1988:HY), were in attendance.

This choice holds particular weight as it aligns with the Chief Minister’s preferences.
Guided by the directives of the Supreme Court, the selection process adheres to a meticulous protocol. The UPSC, after careful consideration, shortlists three IPS officers. Subsequently, the state government is entrusted with the responsibility of choosing one officer from this select list to assume the vital role of a regular DGP.
