The Haryana Home Ministry Anil Vij has stripped Additional Director General of Police Arshinder Singh Chawla (IPS:1993:HR) of all his duties, citing the slow progress of Dial 112 centralised project of police control helpline as the main reason. Chawla was holding the charge of administration, telecom and information technology. Following this, the senior IPS officer has proceeded on a 15-day leave.

Earlier, Home Minister Vij told DGP Manoj Yadav to withdraw work from Chawla as the officer had reportedly not made any progress in the ‘Dial 112’ project, related to PCR, women and health helpline, which was launched in February. The project was to be completed in two months.

Three officers will now supervise the work looked after by Chawla till further orders. ADGP (modernisation and welfare) Alok Roy (IPS:1991:HY) will now supervise telecommunication, ADGP (law and order) Navdeep Virk (IPS:1994:HY) will supervise the work of general administration branch, establishment II and III branches and information technology and ADGP (headquarters) Kala Ramachandran (IPS:1994:HY) will supervise the work of establishment –I branch, legal and training branch.
