The Haryana government on Tuesday (02.07.2024) sent a panel of three IAS officers for the post of Home Secretary of the Chandigarh Administration.
They are;
- Amit Kumar Aggarwal (IAS:2003:HY)
- Mandip Singh Brar (IAS:2005:HY)
- J Ganesan (IAS:2006:HY)
The UT Administration requested a list of candidates for the post about two months ago. The position has been vacant since June 14, when the previous Home Secretary, Nitin Kumar Yadav (IAS:2000:HY), completed his three-year tenure and joined the Union government as a Joint Secretary in the Department of Commerce on central deputation.
The Chandigarh Administration will forward the list to the Union Home Ministry for final approval. The Union Home Ministry will select one of these officers and appoint him as the Home Secretary of the Chandigarh Administration on deputation.
Amit Kumar Aggarwal is considered the frontrunner for the post due to his seniority.
Notably, Mandip Singh Brar had served as the Chandigarh Deputy Commissioner from 2018 to 2021, before the current Deputy Commissioner, Vinay Pratap Singh (IAS:2011:HY), took over.
Amit Aggarwal is currently serving as the Additional Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister. He also holds several other positions, including Project Director of the Chief Minister’s Good Governance Associates Programme, Managing Director of Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Ltd., and Commissioner/Secretary of the Development & Panchayat Department.
Mandip Singh Brar is serving as DG/Secretary of Information, Public Relations, Languages & Culture, DG/Secretary of Mines & Geology, and Mission Director of Mukhya Mantri Antyodaya Parivaar Uttaan Yojna.
J Ganesan is serving as Director General of Housing for All, Secretary of the Haryana Housing Department, and Chief Administrator of the Housing Board.
