Retired IAS officer Rajesh Khullar (IAS:1988:HY) has been appointed as the Chief Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Nayab Saini, with the rank of a cabinet minister. The appointment order was issued by Chief Secretary TVSN Prasad (IAS:1988:HY) and and Khullar’s tenure will be co-terminus with the Chief Minister’s term.
Khullar retired from service on August 31, 2023, and was immediately appointed as Chief Principal Secretary to the then CM Manohar Lal Khattar on September 1, 2023. Prior to his retirement, he held the post of Additional Chief Secretary and Financial Commissioner of the Revenue and Disaster Management, and Consolidation Departments.
Khullar continued as Chief Principal Secretary when Saini replaced Khattar as Chief Minister in March. Earlier, he had served a three-year term as Executive Director at the World Bank’s Washington DC office, starting in September 2020, following a five-year tenure as Principal Secretary to CM Khattar.
