The much awaited restructuring of the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) in Haryana was implemented on Wednesday, with significant changes to its key personnel.
As we reported earlier on November 18, senior IAS officer Arun Kumar Gupta (IAS:1992:HY) was a strong contender to lead the CMO. Our report proved accurate, as Gupta has been appointed as Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister. Gupta was previously serving as Additional Chief Secretary for Town & Country Planning, Urban Estates, and Industries & Commerce.
In addition, two IAS officers—Saket Kumar (IAS:2005:HY) and Yash Pal (IAS:2011:HY)—have been brought in to reshape the CMO. Saket Kumar has been named Additional Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, while Yash Pal takes charge as Deputy Principal Secretary. Kumar previously held roles as Managing Director, Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited, and Director General, Medical Education & Research, among others. Meanwhile, Yash Pal’s prior roles included Director, Urban Local Bodies, and Special Secretary, Revenue & Disaster Management Department.
Two other officers, Amit Kumar Agrawal (IAS:2003:HY) and Ashima Brar (IAS:2004:HY), who were previously Additional Principal Secretaries in the CMO, have been reassigned. Agrawal now serves as Commissioner & Secretary, Development and Panchayat Department, and Managing Director, Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited. Brar has been appointed as Director General, Social Justice, Empowerment, and Welfare of Scheduled Classes and Antyodaya (SEWA), along with Secretary, Social Justice Department.
