The incumbent Chief Secretary of Haryana, Anurag Rastogi (IAS:1990:HY), may not retire on June 30, 2025, if the Centre approves the state government’s forthcoming proposal seeking an extension in his service.

The Haryana government has decided to recommend a six-month extension in service for Rastogi, allowing him to continue as Chief Secretary beyond his scheduled retirement date. A formal communication to this effect will be sent to the central government shortly.

Rastogi, who was appointed to the top bureaucratic post in February 2025, is due to superannuate on June 30. However, under the All India Services (Death-Cum-Retirement Benefits) Rules, 1958, a Chief Secretary can be granted a service extension of up to six months with the prior approval of the central government.
