Senior diplomat Harsh Vardhan Shringla (IFS:1984) was on Monday appointed as the new foreign secretary for a two-year fixed term. He will assume the new role on 29 January, 2020 after incumbent Vijay Gokhale (IFS:1981) completes his tenure. Shringla is currently serving as Indian Ambassador to the United States.
